Carex is partnering with a financial services industry partner to find a Scrum Master who will serve as a servant-leader and Agile coach for cross-functional teams. This individual will help drive Agile and Kanban best practices, support team self-organization, and foster collaboration across teams and stakeholders. The Scrum Master will play a critical role in facilitating Agile processes, removing impediments, and promoting continuous improvement while helping teams deliver high-value outcomes. Experience working within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment is highly valued.

Duration: 1 year, with opportunity to convert to permanent position

Pay Rate: $50-70/hr

Location: Madison, WI (on-site requirements are 1 day/week or 4 days/month)

Summary

The Scrum Master is responsible for guiding Agile teams in the successful application of Scrum and Kanban principles while supporting Product Owners, development teams, and organizational stakeholders. This role acts as a coach, mentor, facilitator, and change agent to help teams mature their Agile practices and improve delivery outcomes. The Scrum Master will facilitate Agile ceremonies, support backlog management and work decomposition, encourage team accountability, and promote enterprise-wide Agile collaboration.

What You'll Do

  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and Agile events including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions
  • Coach Agile teams on Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe principles and practices
  • Support Product Owners with backlog management, prioritization, work decomposition, and dependency management
  • Ensure team understanding of product vision, scope, and business objectives
  • Help teams visualize progress, establish goals, and achieve desired product outcomes
  • Identify and remove impediments impacting team productivity and delivery
  • Foster an environment of trust, collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement
  • Guide teams toward greater self-organization, accountability, and cross-functionality
  • Promote Agile values and principles throughout the organization
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration across Agile teams and enterprise stakeholders
  • Support adoption of new Agile techniques, tools, and continuous improvement practices
  • Help improve team effectiveness, delivery consistency, and organizational Agile maturity

What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master supporting Agile development teams
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban
  • Experience working within Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environments
  • Ability to coach teams and stakeholders on Agile principles and practices
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience supporting backlog refinement, sprint planning, and dependency management
  • Demonstrated ability to remove impediments and improve team productivity
  • Ability to foster collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement within teams
  • Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in complex enterprise environments
