Position Overview

Are you a visionary designer ready to bridge the gap between structural integrity and aesthetic excellence? We are seeking an Interior Architect / Interior Designer to lead the transformation of interior environments in the vibrant Chesapeake region. In this role, you will do more than select finishes; you will architect the human experience, integrating complex architectural principles with sophisticated interior elements to create spaces that are as sustainable and functional as they are breathtaking.

Joining our team means stepping into a culture of design excellence where your creative autonomy is matched by a supportive, collaborative environment. The firm prioritizes the legacy of its projects, ensuring that every square foot designed enhances the lives of its occupants. For a seasoned designer, this is a premier platform to mentor emerging talent, steer high-profile projects from concept to occupancy, and build a career within a firm that values professional mastery and environmental stewardship.

Core Responsibilities

  • Holistic Design Leadership: Architect the future of interior spaces by seamlessly integrating structural requirements with high-end interior aesthetics to create cohesive, impactful environments.

  • Strategic Space Planning: Mastermind innovative spatial solutions that optimize user flow, functionality, and the overall psychological experience of the built environment.

  • Technical Documentation: Produce and oversee high-fidelity construction documents—including detailed floor plans, elevations, and sections—ensuring 100% accuracy and rigorous compliance with all building codes.

  • Material & Finish Curation: Specify premium materials, finishes, and furnishings that elevate the design narrative while meeting stringent project durability and sustainability requirements.

  • Client Stewardship: Act as the primary design advocate, translating complex client visions into tangible, stunning realities through expert communication and presentation.

  • Sustainability Integration: Champion environmentally responsible design by sourcing sustainable materials and implementing green building practices across all project phases.

  • Multidisciplinary Coordination: Lead the technical interface between architectural elements and interior systems, ensuring a unified design execution from the "inside out."

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or Architecture from an accredited institution.

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in a design or architectural firm, demonstrating a sophisticated portfolio of completed works.

  • Software Proficiency: Expert command of Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp; familiarity with rendering software and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of IBC, ADA/accessibility standards, and the technicalities of interior construction and detailing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensure/Certification: NCIDQ Certification or Registered Architect (RA) status.

  • Sustainability Credentials: LEED AP or WELL AP accreditation.

  • Sector Versatility: Proven success across diverse project types, specifically within the Commercial and Hospitality sectors.

  • Professional Drive: A desire to participate in industry associations and contribute to the firm's ongoing learning opportunities.
