Tax Attorney – Estate & Succession Planning (High-Net-Worth)

Position Overview
New Gig Solutions is partnering with a client to identify a sophisticated Tax Attorney with deep experience in high-end estate and succession planning for high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses. This role is ideal for an attorney who thrives on designing tailored, strategic planning solutions and enjoys working directly with sophisticated clients and their advisors.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise high-net-worth individuals and families on complex estate, gift, GST, and income tax planning strategies
• Design and implement advanced estate planning structures tailored to client objectives
• Structure and execute business succession plans for closely held and family-owned businesses
• Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to deliver integrated planning solutions
• Draft and review complex estate planning documents and related transactional materials
• Provide guidance on tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies and multi-generational planning
• Stay current on changes in tax law and proactively advise clients on planning opportunities

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school; LL.M. in Taxation preferred
• Active bar license in good standing
• 3+ years of experience in sophisticated estate planning and tax work
• Demonstrated experience working with high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses
• Strong knowledge of estate, gift, GST, and income tax planning concepts

Technical Expertise

• Experience with advanced planning techniques, including:
  • Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs)
  • Intentionally Defective Grantor Trusts (IDGTs) and sales to grantor trusts
  • Spousal Lifetime Access Trusts (SLATs)
  • Dynasty trusts
  • Family LLCs and Family Limited Partnerships (FLPs)
  • Valuation discount planning
  • Business succession structuring
