The Registered Nurse provides skilled nursing care on a 25-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in Urology/Nephrology, with an average daily census of 23 patients. Responsibilities include patient care, medication administration, monitoring, and collaboration with the healthcare team. The role may require charge nurse duties as needed and floating to other Medical Surgical units within scope.

Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on the Medical Surgical unit.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor patient condition and response to interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Perform remote telemetry monitoring and respond to emergencies.
- Manage pre/post hemodialysis patients and those with renal failure.
- Perform blood product administration and central/PICC line blood draws.
- Provide peripheral line care and management, including starting IVs.
- Administer heparin and manage patients with chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula.
- Perform oral suctioning and manage portable oxygen tanks.
- Implement isolation precautions and provide wound care, including wound vac management.
- Function as charge nurse when required.
- Float to other Medical Surgical units as needed.
- Document patient care accurately and timely in Cerner.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical/surgical nursing.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- BLS certification.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and emergency response.
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure cases.
- Proficiency in blood product administration, central/PICC line blood draws, and peripheral line care.
- Experience with heparin administration.
- Experience with chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula.
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac management.
- Cerner experience.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Travel nursing experience.
Special Considerations:
- Will work every other weekend.
- May be required to work as Charge Nurse as needed.
- Will float within scope to meet facility needs.
- RTO restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days.
- Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen week assignment without pay.
