Job Overview

The Highwater Cafe and Market, a quick service cafe in downtown Reedsport, is looking for an experienced individual to join our team as a Prep Cook.
The Highwater menu includes coffee, delicious sandwiches, soups, salads, pastries, desserts, and other delights. We are a fryer and grill free environment, using combi and slow roast ovens to cook our meats, sauces, and soups, and bake our house-made treats. We share all of our tips equally between all non-management roles. Tips average between $6-$10 an hour.
As Prep Cook you will be the backbone of our customer experience, prepping and baking our delicious offerings.

Key responsibilities include:

• Prepare all of our house made sauces, dressings, coffee syrups, ingredients, soups, baked goods and pastries according to house recipes.
• Manage inventory of house made and prepared items to maximize availability and minimize spoilage.
• Prioritize and balance critial or low/no call prep items with daily tasks.
• Inspect and put away food orders in a timely manner.
• Independently manage prep lists in a high priority to low priority scale according to business needs.
• Accurately log all food waste and prepped food with accurate measurements and times/dates.
• Prepare occasional catering orders, sometimes after or before normal working hours.
• Maintain strict quality control to ensure every dish and baked good meets our high standards.
• Foster a positive and collaborative kitchen environment by working closely with our team in a positive and effective manner.
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, keeping our kitchen up to code.
• Qualifications:
  To excel in this role, you should have:
• A minimum of 1 year prep cook experience.
• Large batch cooking/baking experience.
• A current and active Servsafe certification preferred.
• Good knife skills.
• Exceptional teamwork and communication skills.
• Impeccable cleanliness and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift 40+ pounds.
• Ability to be on feet all day.
• A culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus but not required.

  Wage: Base Starting at $18-20/hr. DOE, plus shared tip pool
