Health Information Management Director (RHIA/RHIT) – Acute Care | Los Alamos, NM

We are seeking an experienced Health Information Management (HIM) Director to lead medical records operations and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. This leadership role oversees the  HIM staff, medical records management, HIPAA compliance, and data integrity in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an  RHIA or RHIT-certified leader with strong knowledge of health information systems, regulatory compliance, and healthcare documentation management .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Health Information Management (HIM) operations
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulatory standards
• Oversee medical records integrity, coding documentation, and information governance
• Supervise, train, and develop HIM staff , including performance management and corrective action when needed
• Maintain policies and procedures for health information privacy, security, and data accuracy
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to improve documentation and record management processes

Requirements

• RHIA or RHIT certification (required)
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare regulations, and compliance
• Must live in Los Alamos, NM, or be willing to relocate within 45 days

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an acute care hospital setting
• Proven leadership experience in  training, coaching, and managing staff
