Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Catholic High School Teacher to join our educational community at Saint Mary's High School. As a Catholic High School Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a faith-based education to our students while delivering comprehensive and engaging academic instruction.
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Planning and Instruction:
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and Catholic teachings.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters spiritual growth, moral development, and academic excellence.
- Use various teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles.
- Faith-Based Education:
- Integrate Catholic faith, values, and ethics into the curriculum, instilling a strong sense of morality, compassion, and social responsibility in students.
- Lead prayer, reflections, and religious discussions as part of the classroom routine.
- Encourage students to participate in sacramental preparation and faith-based activities.
- Student Assessment and Progress:
- Regularly assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to foster academic and spiritual growth.
- Keep accurate records (grades updated at a minimum of two weeks) of student progress and communicate with parents and guardians about their child's academic and moral development.
- Provide support and guidance to help struggling students excel academically and spiritually.
- Classroom Management:
- Maintain a well-organized and respectful classroom environment.
- Enforce discipline policies in a compassionate and faith-driven manner. Promote a sense of community, respect, and empathy among students.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current professional development requirements by attending workshops, seminars, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, sharing best practices and innovative teaching strategies. Engage in continuous self-improvement as a Catholic educator.
- Attend at least 75% of the scheduled Professional Development based on master calendar.
- General Responsibilities Faculty Duties - All faculty members will have assigned duties throughout the year that they will be required to fulfill.
- Email - Check email daily during the school year and at least once a week over the scheduled breaks (e.g. Christmas, Easter, Summer, etc)
- Time off and Sub Plans - Ensure sub plans fulfill the majority of class time.
- Submit sub plans to HR and VP of C&I. Follow guidelines from HR regarding requesting a sub and reporting time off Attend various school events outside the normal school day, including, but not limited to:
- Opening School Week Activities
- Back-to-School Night
- Parent-Teacher Conferences
- Awards Assemblies
- Baccalaureate Mass
- Graduation
- Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid Credential or Master's degree in accordance with state and local requirements.
- Strong passion for teaching and mentoring high school students.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that upholds Catholic values.
- Physical Requirements:
- Sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, and to perform assigned classroom tasks using both hands.
- See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.
- Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels and outdoors and on the telephone.
- Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
- Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.
