Director, Cloud Product Management (Product Strategy, Cloud Platform, Technical Leadership) Job Overview

This Director of Product Management, Cloud Engineering role at athenahealth is pivotal in defining the product strategy and roadmap for the company's cloud engineering capabilities and internal cloud platform services. The leader will align engineering investment to internal user needs and long-term modernization goals, ensuring cloud capabilities improve scalability, reliability, security, productivity, and cost efficiency across the business.

• Own the product strategy, roadmap, and measurable outcomes for critical cloud engineering platform services.
• Operate at the intersection of multiple key departments, including Engineering, R&D, Security, and Finance.
• Ensure cloud investments translate into clear platform value and support long-term cloud transformation.

• An experienced product leader with 10+ years in platform or technical product management.
• A strategic thinker with strong technical judgment and operational discipline.
• Someone comfortable owning complex spaces and making tradeoffs across competing stakeholder needs.
• A driver of clarity in ambiguous, cross-functional environments.
• A leader who can influence across Product, Engineering, Security, and Finance teams.

• Define product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for Cloud Engineering platform capabilities.
• Translate modernization priorities and platform investment needs into a coherent product portfolio.
• Own measurable outcomes for cloud products, including adoption, satisfaction, reliability, and efficiency.
• Represent the needs of internal customers and build strong feedback loops to understand pain points.
• Partner closely with Cloud Engineering, Product, R&D, Security, and Finance leaders to align roadmaps.
• Lead, coach, and develop product managers responsible for Cloud Engineering capabilities.
• Improve the end-to-end experience of cloud services, ensuring they are understandable and easy to adopt.

• 10+ years of experience in product management, platform product management, or technical product leadership.
• Significant experience working with cloud platforms, infrastructure products, or developer platforms.
• Demonstrated success owning roadmap and business outcomes for platform or system-level products.
• Strong product judgment in technically complex environments, including assessing tradeoffs and influencing priorities.
• Experience defining measurable product outcomes such as adoption, quality, productivity, or cost efficiency.
• Strong business acumen, including experience supporting investment decisions and cost management.
• Proven ability to lead through influence across Product, Engineering, Security, Finance, and operational teams.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and storytelling skills across diverse audiences.
• Experience building and leading high-performing product teams, including coaching and talent development.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a software, engineering, or related field (preferred).
