Seeking to hire a full-time biostatistician to join Dr. Alexis C. Wood’s research group at the USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Center (CNRC), Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Wood leads a multidisciplinary research program focused on the analysis of large-scale ‘omics data from longitudinal observational cohort studies to examine pathways linking lifestyle behaviors, including nutrition, to health. While much of the group’s work centers on chronic diseases of aging (e.g., type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease), the lab also maintains a growing pediatric research portfolio applying similar analytic paradigms to early-life data.
This position will focus on the applied implementation of epidemiologic analysis methods within grant-funded research studies, rather than the development of novel analytic methodology. The Statistician will work closely with Dr. Wood and collaborators to review, refine, and execute analytic plans specified in funded applications. Core responsibilities include managing cohort datasets; conducting analyses using R; documenting and communicate analytic decisions, and to summarizing results in a way that supports manuscript development.
This position was created to support the sustained scholarly productivity of the research group by providing expertise in applied statistical methods for cohort-based studies, and continuity in analyses as the data types and sources expand. The role is well suited to an individual seeking a stable applied research career in academic biomedical science.
Cover Letters are strongly encouraged.
Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, Experimental Design, or a closely related field.
Experience working with longitudinal observational cohort data, particularly within NIH- or academically funded research environments.
Work Authorization Requirement:
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.
