Job Description

We are looking for 5 talented American S ign Language (ASL) Interpreters  for the school year.

Hourly Rate Range : $46.00-$56.00 per hour

Responsibilities would include:

• Provide sign language interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) in classroom, small group, and school-related settings.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers using American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods as appropriate.
• Interpret instructional content, classroom discussions, meetings, and school activities.
• Adapt interpretation style to match the student’s language level and communication needs.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure effective communication access for students.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards and ethics.
• Assist in promoting independence and self-advocacy skills for students.
• Maintain accurate documentation as required by the school and district.
• Stay up to date with best practices in educational interpreting.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent preferred.
• South Carolina Educational Interpreter certification or credential (as required by the South Carolina Department of Education – SCDE).
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Fingerprint Clearance & Background Check required.
